1. Image and Profile
By 2013, Dance Saskatchewan will have a positive public profile as the advocate for dance in the province.
We will achieve this through the following core strategies:
1. Maintaining and enhancing relationships with funding agencies and other organizations including arts and cultural organizations.
2. Further developing the Dance Saskatchewan identity with a fresh face and updated look.
3. Developing promotional and marketing materials to promote the identity and market its benefits to the general population as well as to existing and potential members.
4. Developing and implementing a communications plan to increase members and stakeholder awareness of Dance Saskatchewan.
5. Developing and implementing a comprehensive marketing plan.
We will measure the progress in this key success factor by the following:
1. Increase in membership and diversity of membership.
2. Increase in media coverage.
3. Increase in involvement of groups and individuals.
4. Increase in audience attendance to DSI presentations and events.
5. Increase in number of strategic partnerships developed.
2. Program Development and Delivery
By 2013, Dance Saskatchewan will deliver a broad range of dance programs and services that support a healthy dance community in the province.
We will achieve this through the following core strategies:
1. Increasing visibility and awareness of existing programs for all dance forms.
2. Continual assessment of gaps and needs in programming and the development of programs to address those gaps and needs.
3. Providing teacher education and continuing professional development to enhance dance training.
4. Providing programs and services throughout Saskatchewan.
5. Facilitating programs to foster intergenerational dance opportunities.
6. Assisting the development of independent artists and emerging professional dancers and companies.
We will measure the progress in this key success factor by the following:
1. Identification of program gaps.
2. Increase in number of members and participants.
3. Increase in diversity of members and participants.
4. Increase in quality of programs.
5. Increase in number of requests for support.
3. Membership Development
By 2013, Dance Saskatchewan will have an excited, participatory membership which is engaged in dance.
We will achieve this through the following core strategies:
1. Developing an expanded membership strategy outlining the benefits of membership and providing accessibility to Dance Saskatchewan services.
2. Developing programs and services that satisfy our members and measuring the effectiveness of these programs and services.
3. Identifying and recruiting all dance communities as members.
4. Expanding the membership categories to encompass all dance forms.
We will measure the progress in this key success factor by the following:
1. Increase in number of members.
2. Increase in number of membership categories.
3. Increased membership from all regions.
4. Increased member satisfaction based on contact with members, which could include informal or formal meetings, surveys, member involvement, etc.
4. Human Resource Development
By 2013, Dance Saskatchewan will have the staff structure and resources necessary to support the ongoing initiatives of the organization.
We will achieve this through the following core strategies:
1. Selecting and developing qualified, fulfilled and satisfied employees.
2. Providing resources and training needed for the ongoing professional development of all staff.
3. Developing a comprehensive succession plan for staff and Board.
4. Developing a volunteer structure for the organization.
We will measure the progress in this key success factor by the following:
1. Employment satisfaction.
2. Performance review of Executive Director.
3. Emergency and long term succession plan in place.
5. Resource Management
By 2013, Dance Saskatchewan will have the necessary financial resources to sustain the organization and to effectively delivery its programs and services.
We will achieve this through the following core strategies:
1. Maintaining current resources and funding support.
2. Identifying current and potential corporate supporters and developing a plan to secure their support.
3. Ensuring the building and studios are full to capacity and generating financial resources.
4. Effectively utilizing current resources and operating within our resource limits and capacity.
We will measure the progress in this key success factor by the following:
1. Maintaining existing funding levels.
2. Increase in number of corporate supporters.
3. Utilization of studios and full occupancy of building.
4. Overall increase in financial resources.
6. Board Effectiveness
By 2013, Dance Saskatchewan will be recognized for its organizational excellence and effectiveness.
We will achieve this through the following core strategies:
1. Implementing an effective governance structure for the Board.
2. Developing governance and operational policies to provide direction and protection for DSI staff and Board.
3. Implementing strategic planning process for the organization.
4. Attracting, retaining and developing an effective board.
5. Implementing a board orientation and development process.
We will measure the progress in this key success factor by the following:
1. Development and implementation of governance policies.
2. Introduction of ongoing strategic planning process.
3. Reduction in turnover of board members.
4. Satisfaction of board members.
