Dance Saskatchewan Inc is accepting applications for permanent part time building staff.   Several positions will be available commencing May 1, 2010.  All positions will require interaction with multiple users of the facility, general cleaning and supervision related to the common areas of the building.   

Potential exists for any of the successful candidates to undertake additional project specific contract work through the months of June – August. 

We are seeking individuals with general knowledge of the Arts and Cultural Community in Saskatchewan.  The DSI Centre Houses five permanent Arts Organizations and has multiple facility users in a wide range of cultural and dance disciplines.   

Building Supervisor: 

Successful candidate will be responsible for scheduling of contract cleaning staff as well as duties associated with annual maintenance and upkeep.  The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, general computer knowledge and skills in general maintenance and repair.  Hours of work will vary however will not be less than 24 hours per week.   

Building Cleaning Contract Staff: 

Successful candidates will have strong communication skills and the ability to learn specific cleaning protocols.  Hours of work will vary, but will be primarily evenings and weekends subject to bookings in the facility.

Call for Choreographers

The W.I.P. - Danny Grossman - June 5th Mentor

The W.I.P. (works in progress) Series in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan is looking for professional and emerging choreographers to present original and innovative works in progress in Saskatoon. Jackie Latendresse is the Series Coordinator. Informal showings will take place twice a year and the season culminates in a Gala event of finished works. The first showing of work will take place on June 5th and the second showing will take place on September 25th 2010. The Gala event of finished works is to be held in December.

WE ARE NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS ON A FIRST COME FIRST SERVED BASIS.


Please note that special guest Danny Grossman will be in attendance at the June 5th showing. Choreographers and dancers are invited to attend a master class with Danny the evening of Friday June 4th at the Free Flow Dance Centre. Individual appointments for participating choreographers will be arranged with Mr. Grossman on Sunday June 6th to receive one on one feedback regarding your work in progress. W.I.P. Choreographers will also be invited to a private showing of Triptych the evening of June 6th.

Priority will be given to Saskatchewan based artists however; national applications are encouraged.

  1. A brief description of the proposed W.I.P. (work in progress) Max. 1 page
  2. A current dance resume. (include phone #, email and mailing address)
  3. A short statement detailing the type of audience feedback that would most help you to continue to develop your work. Max.1 page
  4. Using the guidelines from the Canadian Artists Code describe your status as professional or emerging. Guidelines are available at www.freeflowdance.com under the W.I.P. logo.
    Applications are being accepted immediately and are accepted on a first come, first served basis. Up to five Choreographers will be accepted for each performance. There will be two in studio performances. Please specify which showing you would prefer to present your work at. 

W.I.P.'s should be an exploration using contemporary/modern or experimental style. Choreographers will receive no less than five and no greater than fifteen minutes to present their work. They will be expected to speak about their work prior to the presentation of it for up to a maximum of ten minutes. Written audience feedback will be collected and distributed to the choreographers. A DVD of your piece will be provided. An honorarium of $100.00 will be available for professional choreographers. Billets will be provided for all out of town parties upon request. The W.I.P. Series uses the definition of a professional artist outlined in the Canadian Artists Code and used by the Canadian Alliance of Dance Artists. All artists presented will be considered for participation in the final Gala of finished works in the autumn.

Studio hours: A combination of hours between Monday - Friday 3-9, Saturday 9-2

LimeLitez Dance Academy is a new and friendly local dance school based in Medicine Hat, Alberta. We currently have close to 300 students taking approximately 400 classes per week. We have been open for 2 years. We accept students ages 2.5yrs to adults in all disciplines of dance. We have a annual dance recital as well as offer summer classes and other performance opportunities. Some students also take part in competitions. We are enjoying a period of growth and there is the opportunity for the role to expand for the right candidate.

POSITION: Dance Instructor 


DESCRIPTION: 

Confederation Centre of the Arts in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, is seeking an 

instructor for its dance umbrellaprogram, to begin in September 2010. This studio-centered 

program has approximately 380 students; roughly 70% are once a week recreational students, 

with the remainder attending class up to 5 times per week. Our teaching philosophy encom- 

passes instilling in students the love and joy in the art form while helping them achieve their 

best results with the physical instrument they possess. This position is full-time, mid-September 

to mid-May. Salary will be based on qualifications and experience. 


QUALIFICATIONS: 

Extensive training in Ballet, Modern, and Jazz 

Training in dance pedagogy and related fields (e.g. kinesiology, music studies, etc.) 

Teaching experience in a studio setting 

Fluency in English required; French would be an asset 


DUTIES: 

Preparing and conducting classes in Creative Movement, Ballet, Jazz and Modern 

Dance for students from 3 years of age to adult 

Preparing students for annual performance 

Working with students of the Intensive Training Program
