Dare to Dance!
We are inviting Saskatchewan dancers from a variety of backgrounds
to audition for a role as a member of one of two Dare To Dance Companies.
Dancers will have the opportunity to share their experiences and explore their
creativity. The theme for this year is ... INSTINCTS. Ms. Annie Wood, this
years Artistic Director, wishes to share the gift of dance with the
Saskatchewan Dance Community.
It is all about hearing and trusting the instincts that pulse within your
heart. How we connect with those instincts and how we choose to express those
instincts is what drives our next move. Lets push our boundaries, trust
our instincts, connect with our courage and express ourselves like never before!
We will leap through space, search our souls, and catapult ourselves into
realizing who we really are.
Dance Saskatchewan Inc. annually offers a selected group of senior dancers
the opportunity to work in a professional setting to produce a possible three
new works in contemporary, jazz and ballet genres. This select group of senior
dancers will be given the opportunity to work with dancers from across the
province, internationally famous guest choreographers, and our Guest Artist,
who is yet to be named. The company concept has been very successful with
many dancers going on to train with Sheridan College, School of Toronto Dance
Theatre, Canadian College of Performing Arts, and to work for the Walt Disney
World Co., Disney Canada, and Saskatchewan Express to name a few!
This year we will again have a second company. Our Young Company was inspired
by the amazing energy and talent displayed during the 2005 audition tour.
Artistic Director, Annie Wood, is thrilled to carry this concept forward and
work with young dancers between the ages of 10 and 15.
Ms. Wood is looking for males and females who have strong technique in jazz
and ballet. Pointe and Acro are definitely an asset. Annie is also looking
for dancers who demonstrate a lot of heart and emotional expression in their
performance. Dancing and performing is about so much more than just good technique!
A positive attitude and dedication to both productions is also a MUST! Ms.
Wood is very excited to be this year's Artistic Director and and will be using
this opportunity to meet and network with Saskatchewan dancers and teachers
for many future endeavours. Check out the Dance Saskatchewan Inc. website
to read more about Annie Wood on the Artistic Director Page.
